UNITED COURIER
SYSTEMS
The first documented use
of an organized courier service for the shipping of letters is in Egypt. In the
year 2400 BC the faro’s used couriers to spread their rules and orders in their
territory.
In
the year 1907 the 19 year old James E. Casey established the American Messenger
Company in Seattle. In 1919 the company made its first expansion beyond Seattle
to Oakland, California, and adopted its present name; United Parcel Service.

UPS is the world’s largest courier company.
In
the year 1969 Adrian Dalsey, Larry Hillblom and Robert Lynn founded DHL.

DHL is Europe’s largest courier company.
United
Air Courier B.V. was founded in February 1986 as a world-wide retail courier
company by three Englishmen, John, Peter and Tim, who had a total of 30 years
of international courier experience.
In
1987 after establishing a strong export retail customer base, United began
undertaking import courier deliveries for several major courier companies. With
our experience of the requirements of our export clients for a special service
we have been able to offer an outstanding delivery service in The Netherlands.
Not only as far as the deliveries themselves, but also in terms of prompt POD
notification and swift communication regarding late arrivals and delivery
problems.
In
the year 1991 United adopted the name UCS, United Courier Systems, after they
joined a new courier network.
Nowadays
UCS is the largest “small” courier company in The Netherlands.
